The academic research landscape is shifting. Budgets are tighter. Teams are stretched. But the drive to explore, understand, and push science forward hasn’t faded.
In times like these, the right tools can make all the difference – helping labs maintain momentum, uphold rigor, and stay focused on discovery.
Foundry is one of those tools.
Built by scientists, for scientists, Foundry eliminates the bioinformatics friction that can slow research down – fragmented pipelines, manual workarounds, disparate AI systems, and reproducibility issues that drain time and budgets. With Foundry, labs move faster and stay in control.
Join Dr. Melissa Moore, Dr. Manuel Garber and the Via Scientific team to see how academic labs across disciplines are using Foundry to accelerate their science, even in this new era of constrained resources – curiosity intact, mission undeterred.
Melissa is a biochemist and molecular biologist, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. Once a long-time HHMI investigator (first at Brandeis University and then at UMass Medical School), Melissa understands the challenges now facing academic labs and how to make smart decisions in bioinformatics research with a constrained budget.
Manuel is an associate professor of Bioinformatics and Integrative Biology at UMass Chan Medical School where he also created and directs the Bioinformatics Core. Manuel’s background is in applied mathematics. He previously served as a computational biologist at the Broad Institute where he focused on analyzing the human genome sequence.
Alper is the creator of Foundry and is our Chief Technology Officer. Alper has extensive expertise in software development, machine learning & large-scale systems. Alper is passionate about the global need for reusable, robust and production grade bioinformatics analysis and platforms. He is also an associate professor of Bioinformatics and Integrative Biology at UMass Chan Medical School, where he is also co-director of the Bioinformatics Core.
Jim has a deep and abiding passion for the opportunities presented by applying artificial intelligence technologies to large scale data sets and in building rapidly scaling companies. He is a technology entrepreneur many times over and is a veteran of the startup journey from ground zero, to IPO, and everything in between.
Steve is the Director of Product at Via Scientific, where he leverages his extensive bioinformatics background to drive product-centric initiatives. His unique career path began in chemistry and evolved through key bioinformatics roles at Caris Life Sciences, Invitae, and DNAnexus. This journey has given him a deep expertise in building scalable, cloud-native pipelines and a unique perspective on bridging the critical gap between scientific research and strategic product development.
