What is batch correction?

Updated:

September 16, 2025

Batch correction is a data preprocessing technique used to minimize technical variability introduced by differences in experimental conditions, instruments, or processing batches. In bioinformatics and genomics, it adjusts datasets to remove non-biological biases while preserving true biological signals. Foundry supports both ComBat and Harman, alongside broader noise-handling steps (cleaning, normalization, feature selection) applied to omics matrices used in downstream DE and enrichment apps.
