Image segmentation is a computer vision technique that partitions an image into distinct regions or objects for easier analysis. In bioinformatics and spatial biology, it’s used to delineate cells, tissues, or subcellular structures in microscopy images. By separating meaningful features from background, segmentation enables quantitative analysis of morphology, spatial relationships, and biomarker expression.
